10/28/21 conn

So today was a really good day. The kind of day that is  why I travel. In the morning I went to DJ's for breakfast- it was really good. I had Sunnyside up  with sausage and home fries and a biscuit and gravy. All of it was excellent. I then went to the Coast guard academy and went to the  museum .It was okay and involved a lot of reading and  not so many exhibits. It was interesting that there was no bookstore or gift store . I then drove around the academy which looked pretty cool. I would  have liked to done a tour but they did not have one, unlike other service academies . I still have to go to the Air Force academy to complete visiting all of  the service academy's.            I then went to the Lyman Allen art museum which was excellent: really good presentation .A small museum but more than a decent .I spent over an hour and a half -they had some very interesting stuff and ...

10/27/21 A trip to Connecticut

So I felt that a October break was necessary for my general peace of mind and part of my transition to less work and  more travel. Originally I tried to convince  Wendy to take off the week and go to Chicago and back ,but she was reluctant to do so for variety of reasons. I originally planned on  going to Gettysburg and  Altoona but the weather did not cooperate. As the weather front was going from west to east, I decided to go east .I  ended up going to New London ,Connecticut. On Tuesday I took the day off and pretty much worked on eBay, relaxed and went to see Dune which was excellent.                On Wednesday I left around 11:00 in order to avoid rush hour which worked out ,as previously the Google maps was showing delays .However  as I drove up to the Tappan zee there were no delays at all. It was pretty much smooth driving most of the way with only a very...

paris 6/5/73

June 6th Saw Notre Dame. Ran into Andrea who is waiting for a friend. Had lunch of French bread, pate, carrots and cucumber salad on the Ille de la Citie. Sitting on the seine having a picnic. Went to the Louvre. Saw the Mona Lisa, Venus de mile .david, winged victory and more..it was very impressive. To say the least. Paris really is a fantastic city. At night we were hanging around on the left bank. We ate really good cous cous for supper which was served with wine and oriental mushrooms for 9 Franks at some  really small Algerian restaurant . We found a whole section of cheap restaurants by the seine. We hung out at a cafe for a while drinking Pernod. We walked around at night and saw Paris at night .Notre Dame all lit up .We got to sleep around 1:00. Walking around the Sorbonne having visions of revolution in the street 6/7/73 I'm hitting the midweek point of trying to make  my money  last  till the weekend when my next payment of American Express by my budget is...

more camp1969

I often had starts and fits in terms of writing in my journal or keeping up on the journal. I do when I look back reflect on the fact that the period of the 68 to when I started law school in 76 was perhaps the most creative. My life. Soon thereafter it changed. I don't know if it was due to law school which crushed creativity or being married so I the romantic ups and downs were down with or just life in general that became too real and therefore escaping the fantasy was harder and harder. The summer of 69 was the greatest it was one of the greatest if not the greatest summer of my life it's a period where I most grew and changed to what I was for the high school college years and perhaps for the rest of my life. I grew in so many ways and became much more rule I was ultimately to become. I was away from high school and sorge and therefore could develop on my own. I often felt camps a great place to change and grow away from the expectations or the social pressures in one'...

camp tac 2

I am writing a bit out of sequence. I went to TAC  at the end of my sophomore year of high school. I believe the camp experiences very much changed me, whether for the good or bad would depend on how one views it. I changed a lot there and what I loved is it allowed me to change. I think prior to that I was very introverted and very unsure of myself. I became much more confident and perhaps much more egotistical. I became much closer with sorge  and osstroff less friendly with kaminski Paul Fisher. I always think of those are some of my better summers and loved my summers at camp. That  and my junior year abroad were to some of my favorite memories. Reading about it brings back very good memories. I wasn't writing that extensively and it was mostly just a paragraph per day. Monday July 1st 1968 -got home 1:00 a.m. so written at 2:00 a.m. decided to tell arrangements for July leaving for camp. So unable to keep up diary. Given synopsis when got back so tell  Then in d...

thoughts

So I have been off and on but fairly consistently keeping a journal since 1968 or when it was first encountering teenage life and going through various thought processes. I'm unclear exactly why I start doing a journal. I don't know if it was ego or pretensions of being a literary presence. It might have just that I needed then just as I still do now a forum to vent and carry on and let things out. I found that the act of writing often would relieve the stress that allow me to move forward leaving the burdens anxiety problems on paper. I have reread the journals at different points and often find them interesting sometimes depressing and raises many questions about the choices I've made in life the different paths that could have been taken and then the fact that much of what was going on over 50 years ago is still going on today in terms of the ups and downs the uncertainties the silliness and stupidities. I cringe when I read some of my earlier writings and see how politi...
