So today was a really good day. The kind of day that is the basis for why I travel. In the morning I went to DJ's for breakfast- it was really good. I had Sunnyside up eggs with sausage and home fries and a biscuit and gravy. All of it was excellent. I then went to the Coast guard academy and went to the  museum .It was okay and involved a lot of reading and  not so many exhibits. It was interesting however there's no bookstore no gift store . I then drove around the academy which looked pretty cool I would  have liked to do a tour but they did not have one, unlike the other service academies . I still have to go to the Air Force academy to complete all the service academy's.
I then went to the Lyman Allen art museum which was excellent: really good presentation .A small museum but more than a decent enough .I spent over an hour there actually close to an hour and a half -they had some very interesting stuff and it interplayed with the Griswold museum I was at yesterday. It was on the grounds of the Connecticut college which was very pleasant.
I then drove down to Captain Scotty's lobster shack. I got Rhode Island clam chowder and a lobster roll. It was out on a deck so it was a little bit chilly as I ate outside on a picnic bench .It  Was just okay as  Rhode Island chowder is basically a broth with potatoes. However the lobster roll was excellent. I enjoyed eating outside and viewing the marina and the birds there.
I then went to fort Trumbull which was closed in terms of the interior though  I was able to walk around and get a good idea of the fort and a view of the harbor. It was now close to 2 2:00 p.m. and I decided to take a break. I went back to the hotel and napped for about an hour. Then feeling invigorated I went to a Eolia  mansion which wasn't open so you just walked around the grounds .It was  okay, probably better in  spring when the flowers are in full blossom. I walked down the point Goshen and observed some sea birds .All in all is very pleasant. I then went to the sanitarium which was somewhat spooky . I then drove over to Niantic which was a pleasant little town. I went to the book barn and I got several science fiction books
Originally I planned to go to the Skipper seafood but it looked like it was more seasonal particularly as it was mostly eating outside which at 6:00 at night did not seem to be very realistic. There's also a brewery but  the clientele looked  very young. I then drove back to the hotel. I'm glad I didn't drink and drive because the drive was a little bit harrowing.
I walked over to Tony D's which was excellent .It was only two blocks away and was one of the really enjoyable meals of my life. I ate at the bar and the bartender was one of those classic bartenders who was excellent. I started with a McCallan and then had a clam bisque that was excellent. It was very tasty. There was a salad and bread that came with everything so it was all very good and I started filling up. I then had the truffle pasta which was one of the better pastas I ever had. All in all it was a top level meal easily five star. My only regret was this is would have been a perfect vacation with Wendy who loves that kind of Italian food. I then went back to the hotel and here I am at almost 8:00 reciting this
